Privacy Policy

DockPilot (“DockPilot,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a product of RiverLens, provides a native application that lets you operate your own servers and connect to your own AI providers over SSH. This Privacy Policy explains what we do — and, just as importantly, what we deliberately do not — with your information.
DockPilot is designed around a single principle: your credentials, your keys and your server access belong to you and stay on your device. We built the product so that the sensitive parts of your workflow never need to touch our infrastructure.
1. The short version
- Your SSH keys, server credentials and AI provider API keys are stored in the Apple Keychain on your device. They are never uploaded to us.
- DockPilot is a client: it connects directly from your device to your own servers and to the AI provider you choose. We do not sit in the middle of those connections.
- We do not receive, store, read or process the contents of your servers, files, commands, terminal output, or the prompts and responses exchanged with your AI provider.
- We collect only the minimal information needed to run our website, sell licenses, and support you.
- We do not sell your personal information, ever.
2. Information we do not collect
Because of how DockPilot is architected, the following never leaves your device and is never transmitted to DockPilot or RiverLens:
- Credentials & keys. SSH private keys, passwords, passphrases, and AI provider API keys — held in your device’s secure Keychain.
- Server data. The commands you run, files you edit, deployment output, logs, and any content on the servers you connect to.
- AI conversations. Prompts, context, and model responses exchanged directly between your device and the AI provider you supply. DockPilot brings your own keys; we are not a party to those requests.
These connections are made directly from your device to your server or your chosen AI provider. DockPilot does not proxy, mirror, or log them.
3. Information we do collect
To operate our business and website, we collect a limited set of information:
a. Purchase & license information
If you buy DockPilot, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details under Apple’s privacy policy; we receive only the transaction and license confirmation needed to grant you access. We do not receive your full card number.
b. Support communications
If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to send — such as your email address and the contents of your message — so we can respond and keep a record of the request.
c. Website & diagnostic data
Our website may collect standard, aggregated technical data (such as approximate region, browser type, and pages viewed) to keep the site secure and functioning. If the app collects anonymous crash or diagnostic reports, these are limited to technical stability data and never include your credentials, server data, or AI conversations.
4. How we use information
We use the limited information we collect only to:
- Deliver, activate and validate your DockPilot license;
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- Maintain the security, integrity and reliability of our website and app;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
5. Third-party services
DockPilot relies on a small number of trusted third parties, each acting under its own privacy policy:
- Apple — App Store distribution, payment processing, and Keychain (on-device secure storage).
- Your chosen AI provider — e.g., the model vendor whose API key you supply. Your prompts go directly to them under their terms and privacy policy, not through us.
- Your own servers — the infrastructure you connect to is controlled entirely by you.
You are responsible for reviewing the privacy practices of any AI provider or server operator you connect DockPilot to.
6. Data security
DockPilot uses the security primitives of your device and operating system — including the Apple Keychain and the OS’s encrypted storage — to protect the credentials you entrust to it. SSH connections are encrypted in transit. Because sensitive data stays on your device, the surface area for a breach on our side is deliberately minimal. No method of storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, and you remain responsible for the physical and account security of your own devices and servers.
7. Data retention
On-device data (keys, credentials, connection history) is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. The limited business records we hold — such as license and support records — are kept only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA). Because we hold very little of your data, most requests are straightforward. You may also, at any time, delete your on-device data by removing it in the app or uninstalling DockPilot. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
9. Children’s privacy
DockPilot is a professional developer tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International users
DockPilot is offered from the United States. If you use it from outside the U.S., any limited information we process may be handled in the U.S. or other countries. By using DockPilot you consent to this transfer, subject to the protections described in this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of DockPilot after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
