Terms of Service
Last updated: July 6, 2025
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and RiverLens (“DockPilot,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of the DockPilot application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By downloading, installing, or using DockPilot, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What DockPilot is
DockPilot is a client application. It lets you connect from your own device, over SSH, to servers you control, and to third-party AI providers using API keys you supply (“bring your own keys”). DockPilot itself does not host your servers, does not provide the AI models, and does not act as an intermediary for the content of those connections. You operate your own infrastructure; DockPilot is the tool you use to do it.
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your devices, credentials, and any keys used with the Service, and for all activity that occurs through your use of DockPilot.
3. License
Subject to these Terms and your payment of any applicable fees, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use DockPilot for your own lawful purposes. This license does not transfer any ownership of the Service to you.
4. Your responsibilities
DockPilot is a powerful tool that can execute commands, edit files, and make changes to live systems. You are solely responsible for everything you do with it, including:
- Ensuring you are authorized to access and modify any server or system you connect to;
- Reviewing and approving actions before they run, and configuring the guardrails and approvals the app provides;
- Maintaining your own backups and recovery procedures;
- Complying with the terms, policies, and usage limits of any AI provider whose keys you use;
- Complying with all applicable laws and third-party rights.
You acknowledge that automated and AI-assisted actions can have unintended consequences, and that you assume the risk of operating your own systems with the Service.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use DockPilot to: access systems you are not authorized to access; violate any law or regulation; infringe intellectual property or privacy rights; distribute malware or conduct attacks; or reverse engineer, resell, or attempt to extract the source of the Service except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
6. Third-party services
The Service works alongside third parties you choose — including Apple, your AI provider, and your own servers. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, security, pricing, or conduct of any third-party service, and your use of them is governed by their own terms. Any AI provider charges you incur are between you and that provider.
7. Fees & purchases
DockPilot may be sold as a paid application or license through the Apple App Store. All purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple’s terms. Except where required by law or by Apple’s policies, fees are non-refundable. We may change our pricing for future purchases at any time.
8. Intellectual property
DockPilot, the DockPilot and RiverLens names and logos, and all associated software, design, and content are owned by RiverLens and protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, branding, or trade dress without our prior written permission. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any action taken through it will produce a particular result. You use DockPilot to operate your own systems at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RIVERLENS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, SYSTEMS, OR BUSINESS — including damage to or loss of servers, files, or infrastructure — ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN ALL CASES, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RiverLens and its affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use or misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk or legal exposure. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.
13. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except where applicable law grants you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
